Even with all of these advances, and so many more not mentioned here, I still have a lot to accomplish as your Sheriff. Plans are underway for a number of exciting ventures. We are building our investigations component to be ready for the next wave of scammers who try to steal the hard-earned money of our citizens. Advances in the use of cryptocurrency and elaborate computer scams continues to plague part of our county and we are preparing our detectives to reduce the chances these crimes will affect our community. We also plan to work with our municipal police departments and initiate a unified dispatch center to avoid 911 callers being transferred during an emergency. This along with a single records management system will further improve public safety communications and reduce the chances that valuable information is not properly relayed as we have seen in other jurisdictions in Florida, such as what happened during the tragedies of September 11, 2001 and the Parkland Shooting. When planning for the path of law enforcement in our county, I take an approach that looks 10 to 20 years in the future and how we can improve our lives now as well as those of our future, your children and mine.
